Deep depression to give good rains over Andhra Pradesh for next 24 hours

The Southwest Monsoon 2017 ended on a a good note for Andhra Pradesh as the state recorded excess rains during the four month long season. Now, the post Monsoon season has also started on a good note as Coastal Andhra Pradesh is rain surplus by 22 percent and Rayalaseema by 111 percent.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers were witnessed over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, while isolated heavy showers were seen over Rayalaseema in the past day. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Anantapur witnessed heavy rain to the tune of 77 mm. In the same span of time other cities in the state witnessed light with a few moderate spells.

Tuni recorded 17 mm of rain, Kakinada 8.8 mm of rain, while Kalingapatnam, Vijayawada, Kurnool and Kalingapatnam observed 0.8 mm of rain. It is anticipated that light to moderate with isolated heavy rains would continue over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana during the next 24 hours.

All thanks  to a deep depression that is prevailing over North Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation over Odisha. Along with this, a trough is extending from Odisha up to Interior Karnataka across Telangana.

Thereafter, the rain intensity may reduce marginally over the state as the system may move away. However, on and off rains will continue over all these areas.

The maximum temperature will be in lower 30’s and the minimum will be in 20’s. The sky will remain cloudy to partly cloudy and the weather will remain comfortable during mornings and nights.
