Deep Depression in Arabian Sea brings rain over West Coast

The deep depression in Arabian Sea yesterday brought moderate to heavy rain over the western coast of the country including parts of Karnataka, South Maharashtra and Goa. Rainfall in Kerala that remained scanty right after the onset of Southwest Monsoon has also picked up due to the system in the Arabian Sea.

Due to the prevalent system, strong southwesterly winds are reaching upto West Coast and has increased the cloud cover and intensity of rain. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is expected to move in the north northwest direction, giving more rain over Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra and Kerala in next 24 hours.

Interior parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat are likely to receive scattered rain and thundershowers for next 24 hours as southwesterly winds penetrate into these parts of West Coast.
