Moving from the Bay of Bengal, the deep depression has reached the ground from the shores of Andhra Pradesh. According to the satellite photos, the system has passed very close to Kakinada. According to an assessment by Skymet meteorologists, the system reached the ground between 6:30 am and 7:30 am on October 13, 2020. At the time of its landfall, the coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh were running at a speed of 55 to 65 kilometres per hour. The wind speed was reaching 75 kilometres per hour in some parts.

At present, the coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh are receiving torrential rains with strong winds. Weather in coastal parts including Visakhapatnam, Narasapur, Kakinada will remain bad for at least next 6 hours. Meanwhile, southern coastal Odisha and Telangana will also be cloudy and likely to rain with strong winds.

This deep depression will continue to move in the western direction and during this time it will also become weak. It is likely to turn into depression first and then lower pressure. By tomorrow, the system will reach the western parts of Maharashtra and on October 15, when it enters the Arabian Sea, it will become effective after getting favourable conditions again. It is estimated that depression may occur after reaching the middle eastern parts of the Arabian Sea.

Before reaching the Arabian Sea, this system will give rain in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, southern Chhattisgarh, southern Madhya Pradesh and southern parts of Gujarat. Konkan Goa, including its suburbs in Mumbai, is expected to receive good rains on October 14-15.

The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon 2020 is delayed due to these seasonal systems coming from the Bay of Bengal. For the next one week, the withdrawal of the monsoon is unlikely to increase as a new seasonal system is seen developing again over the Bay of Bengal on October 14-15. The ensuing system may be even more effective than the current depression. This will likely become the first cyclone of the season. If it creates a storm, it will be called 'Gati'.
