As anticipated rainfall activities have commenced over the parts of Punjab and Haryana. Today morning light rain has been recorded in Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Rohtak.

Meanwhile, a Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir which has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over West Rajasthan and adjoining Central Pakistan. Therefore, we now expect a gradual increase in rainfall activities in several parts of the region. Rain will largely be light to moderate in nature while one or two intense spells cannot be ruled out.

Rain in Haryana will, however, be patchy. Hailstorm activity is also possible in isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana.

These intermittent rains are expected to continue until the morning of November 28. Thereafter the rain belt will shift to eastward towards western parts of Uttar Pradesh and the weather will start clearing up from both the states.

By November 29, the Western Disturbance will move away, and icy cold winds will start sweeping the northern plains which will be travelling from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, it is very likely that the minimums might drop by three to four degrees around November 30 and remain so for at least a couple of days. Parts of Punjab and Haryana may witness single digit minimums during this period.
