Decade's most pleasant weather in Delhi this year

April 17, 2015 2:43 PM |

Delhi Pleasant weatherThe first half of April has been very pleasant in Delhi this year. So much, so that the national capital has broken last 10 years’ record. The average maximum for the first 15 days is 31.9 while the minimum average is 18.8.

Delhi has also received good showers this month so far and recorded 27.9 mm. Frequent Western Disturbances could be attributed to frequent spells of rain and pleasant weather conditions.

Western Disturbances (WDs) are a yearlong phenomenon, but they tend to affect North India mainly from October to February. Normally, by the end of March the systems tend to shift towards the upper latitudes, north of Jammu and Kashmir.

It has been observed that every decade one or more incidence of abnormal weather pattern occurs. For instance, in 2008 we have seen that rainfall recorded during the first half of April was 37.3 mm. That year, the number of WDs were also more.

Weather forecast for the rest of April

A fresh Western Disturbance will bring another spell of thunderstorm activity followed by light rain on April 19. After that, the frequency and strength of WDs will keep decreasing. Temperatures will start rising from Saturday onwards and the short spell of dust storm activity will not do much to bring changes in the mercury.

The wind pattern over the region will change from easterly to hot and dry northwesterly. Winds blowing from south Pakistan and Rajasthan will heat up North India.
