In the last 72 hours, the deadly swine flu has taken lives of three in Pune. Counting on this, the toll of deaths from swine flu also increased to 42 this year in the city so far. However, the condition is severe for 14 other patients who have been detected with the positive H1N1 virus in different hospitals of the city.
The lethal swine flu out broke in India in the year 2009 with its first ever case found positive in Hyderabad. Since then, the virus has become a pandemic and the country has been susceptible to the H1N1 virus.
As per Skymet Weather, swine flu incidents are pretty common in the areas that are reeling under hot and humid weather conditions. At present Pune is whirling under scorching mercury levels. The maximums are settling pretty close to the 40-degree mark.
Moreover, the north westerly winds incurring moisture from the Arabian Sea are also blowing over the region. The humidity level is also more than 60%. All these weather conditions are favorable for the influenza virus to spread and multiply. And this is the case similar in Pune as well.
Skymet Weather further reiterates that similar weather condition is likely to prevail in Pune for another 3-4 days. Hence, proper precautions during these 3-4 days are advisable.
Though the death toll, when compared with the year 2015, has declined steeply, but the flu has been affecting the country.
As per the health experts, swine flu is a deadly respiratory disease caused by the influenza viruses and the same is common throughout the pig populations across the world. As the flu is contagious in nature, it is easily transmitted into the human body through normal coughing or sneezing showing the normal influenza symptoms.
Though the symptom of the flu which includes the runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, body aches, fatigue or a headache, lasts for about one to four days, serious precaution is advised if the incubation period continues for nine to ten days.
To battle the increasing swine flu cases, it is advisable to consult a doctor at an earliest if any of the above-mentioned symptoms persist. However, the flu takes only a few general precautions to stay safe from the H1N1 virus. These precautions include properly washing your hands with an anti-bacterial soap, taking a good night sleep of about seven to eight hours and staying well hydrated.
