The Monsoon season has already completed half its journey and while rainy days are loved by all, the deadly diseases only increase during this season. In fact, dengue has already spread its wings to quite an extent over India and many parts of the country have been affected until now.

In fact West Bengal, which happens to be one of the most affected states has been witnessing increasing Dengue cases every day. The worst part is that the death toll has increased to ten in the state, one of which was from the capital city, Kolkata. The affected persons toll has risen to a whopping 1270 until now.

The state of Kerala happens to be the most affected with 4060 cases of dengue recorded since January. In Odisha, 2683 dengue cases have been reported.

Four fresh cases of dengue has been reported in Pollachi district in Tamil Nadu. Karnataka is also not far behind as far as dengue cases are concerned. In fact, since January 2016, 2610 cases have been recorded.

However, as per the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme, there has been a tremendous improvement in mosquito control programmes as compared to last year.

As compared to last year’s 15,687 cases in Delhi, only around 115 cases have been reported this year. Similarly, there were 14,128 cases in Punjab in 2015 and this year there are only 18. Local civic agencies have conducted house checks on larvae breeding causing a drop in the number of cases.
