Despite a good rainy start to March, the rains have been quite scarce for Delhi in the last one week. In fact, day temperatures are on a constant rise in Delhi for the last few days. In fact, Palam observatory recorded a day temperature of 30.4°C yesterday. Safdarjung observatory missed the 30-degree mark by just a whisker. Minimum temperatures also remained around 15°C and above.

In fact, this is the first time in the last few months that the temperatures have crossed the 30 mark. The last time the city recorded 30 degrees was back in November.

However, this temperature is not very unusual for March. In fact, Delhi should be recording day temperatures close to 35 degrees at present, as per the normal temperature figures for the past many years.

Weather has been mainly dry over the city for the last one week. Looking at the weather forecast, weather seems to be promising and rains are expected over the region beginning March 20, in the late hours. This is when some light intermittent activity is forecast for Delhi NCR. The activity will slip onto the next week as well, as two back to back weather systems will affect the region. A stronger system will bring along light to moderate rains around March 22. The effect of these weather systems will last up to March 25.

Meanwhile, not much change in temperatures is likely over the region and day temperatures will remain close to 30 degrees.

Delhi has received record rainfall in the month of March. While the normal rainfall figures for Delhi in the month of March stands at 15.9 mm, the city has received 60.4 mm rains as of March 18. This is the second highest rain figure for the city in the month of March in the last 10 years. The week of March remained very active for the region in the terms of rains. A total of 20 mm rains were received in the region for three consecutive days.
