Day temperature in Delhi drops significantly

April 8, 2014 11:31 AM |

As predicted by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Delhi witnessed a significant drop in day temperatures, which came down from 38°C on Sunday to 32.2°C on Monday.

The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir remained on the fringes of the national capital in the last 24 hours and it was a touch and go situation in terms of rainfall. From now on, these weather systems will track more northwards and remain confined to the hilly regions of North India and the foothills including places like Dehradun, Pathankot, Chandigarh and Dharamsala. Several places in North India might experience thunderstorms and dust storms but rainfall will remain subdued.

The latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India suggests there will be no significant rise in temperatures and maximum could settle around 33°C, today. Delhiites will rejoice a relatively comfortable weather for the next few days as day temperatures will rise gradually. On the 10th of April, when residents of the National Capital will cast their votes for the Lok Sabha elections, maximum will hover around 35°C.

Due to heavy to good amounts of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and the adjoining foothills, strong north westerly winds are keeping the temperatures quite comfortable in North India. Yesterday, Batote recorded 62.1 mm of rain, Pahalgam 28.2 mm, Banihal 29.4 mm and Srinagar 8.4 mm, Hisar 0.3 mm and Dehradun 2 mm of rain.

The weather in Delhi will remain pleasant during early morning hours with minimums settling around 19°C for the next few days.
