Day and night temperature of northwest and Central India to head south

November 16, 2022 2:41 PM |

The ongoing Western disturbance over the Western Himalayas has moved away Eastwards. Cold winds from snow clad mountains have already commenced over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan leading to drop in minimum temperatures. These cold winds from northwest direction over will continue until November 19. Thus, temperatures will drop further.

A fresh Western disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas Mumbai on November 19th which may alter the flow of winds over Northwest India. Drop in day and night temperatures will get arrested from November 20.

However, we do not expect a steep drop in minimums because the amount of snowfall received by western Himalayas is not sufficient. There will not be a significant drop in temperatures until a strong Western disturbance will dump heavy snowfall over the hills.

Parts of Punjab Haryana and Rajasthan may witness single digit minimums during next 2 to 3 days. Minimum of Delhi and NCR may also come down to 10 or 11 degrees. Therefore, winter chill is ready to set in over many parts of north west and Central India.
