Dahanu is a coastal town in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. The city transforms into an oasis during the Monsoon season. A drive along the Sahyadri mountain range to the coastal city of Dahanu during the rains is an amazing experience. And, what could be a better time than now.

In a span of 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Saturday, Dahanu has received a whopping 251 mm of rainfall.

This is also the highest rainfall recorded, in a span of 24 hours, during the last 10 years. However, the all-time highest 24-hours rainfall is 378 mm recorded on June 28, 1960. The city had received a total of 1203 mm of rainfall in June, 1960.

Three digit rainfalls is not uncommon in the city but above 200 mm is a definitely rare in Dahanu. Skymet had earlier predicted very good Monsoon rains in West Coast and it is turning out to be so.
