Cyclonic circulation gives light rain over East India

Rain in JharkhandThe induced cyclonic circulation, moving across East India, has given light rain over parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

In span of last 24 hours, Daltonganj in Jharkhand recorded 19 mm of rain, Harhanj 11 mm, Bariatu 7 mm, Padma 6.3 mm and Ranchi observed traces of rain. In Bihar, Bhagalpur received 2.2 mm, Chapra 2 mm, Gaya 1 mm and Patna 0.1 mm.

Pendra and Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh also recorded 13 mm and 1.6 mm of rain, respectively.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system continues to move eastwards, however, it will become low marked as shifts further. The rain activity is also expected to cease thereafter over the parts of eastern region.

Moving further, Northeastern states are expected to receive isolated light rain in next 24 hours as the system travel through the region. Meanwhile as expected, parts of West Bengal and Odisha did not receive any rain on account of the system.

During the last 48 hours, the weather system along with an active Western Disturbance had given widespread heavy rainfall over northwestern plains including parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Western Disturbances along with induced cyclonic circulations are regular in north and northwestern parts of India during this time of year. Nevertheless, there has been increase in the frequency of these systems this year.
