Cyclone Vayu to give good rain in Pakistan June 13 onward, Karachi coast on alert

Pakistan which has been reeling under hot weather conditions will see some relief as Cyclone Vayu nears. Cyclone Vayu has developed over the east-central Arabian Sea which will gradually move in North-Northwest direction towards the Gujarat coast. It is likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by June 11 evening. Our experts have to say that Sindh would start witnessing scattered light rains by June 13. While, between June 14 to June 16, the intensity of rains will go up and moderate to heavy rains would also be seen. Many parts of Sindh particularly Karachi, Badin, Hyderabad, Chhor would see moderate to heavy rains with scattered rains in the city of Nawabshah.

Many places in Pakistan have been reeling under severe heat conditions. Particularly, the weather remained dry over South Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan. Yesterday, Jacobabad in Sindh recorded 50.1°C and Sibi witnessed 49.1°C. Amidst this, scattered rain and thundershowers have been witnessed over the North Punjab Province of Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

With rains on, temperatures are expected to subside around June 16. The impact of Cyclone Vayu would be seen in many parts of Pakistan and temperatures might drop further over Rohri, Jacobabad, Khanpur, and Barkhan. Scattered rain and thundershowers are expected to bring in much relief from hot weather conditions and mercury will drop by four to six degrees. Whereas, a significant drop of six to eight degrees will be seen in parts of South Sindh.

Karachi coast needs to be on alert as sea conditions will be rough to very rough and wind speed will be around 70-80 kmph gusting to 100 kmph. Wave height is expected to go as high as 8-10 ft and fishermen are strictly advised not to venture out in the sea.
