Chennai rains have been far and few for the past many days. So much so that the city has remained dry for quite some time now. However, good news awaits for the residents of Chennai as severe cyclone Vardah is moving closer to the coast.
The system is currently lying 520 km ESE of Nellore, 490 km ESE of Machilipatnam and 480 km ENE of Chennai. The system has now intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm and is expected to move further towards the coast.
During the next 24 to 36 hours, the weather system is expected to cross North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coast close to Chennai. In the wake of this, Chennai is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain tomorrow.
In fact, light rainfall is expected to commence today onward itself. The intensity of rains is expected to increase by tomorrow. Other parts of coastal Tamil Nadu are also expected to receive some good rains during the next 24 hours.
While the capital city of Tamil Nadu may not be able to surpass its monthly rains, but rainfall amounts will be much more as compared to last month.
