The months of October and November are good ones for Central, North and western parts of the country as Southwest Monsoon withdraws, and Northeast Monsoon has no effect over these regions. However, Northeast India continues to observe rainfall activities in view of two features.
One of them is the Western Disturbance whose remnants travel up to the northeastern region giving rainfall over these parts while the other are the systems which form in the Bay of Bengal and recurve towards Northeast India.
These rainfall activities continue in October and mid-November. During the first half of the Pre-Monsoon season, Northeast India remains under the influence of these storms as during this time, these systems usually track towards Northeast India.
One such system is currently in Central Bay of Bengal, which has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm named Titli. The system is expected to recurve and slow down which will be the case in this situation.
Therefore, between October 10 and 13, Northeast India will see good rains. Moreover, the system is also showing signs of breaking up over Northeast India and spreading which will cause rains over a larger area on October 13.
Rains are likely to be heavy to very heavy over the states of Tripura as well as Mizoram, flooding conditions may occur in parts while intensity of rainfall will remain between moderate to heavy over Nagaland, Manipur as well as Assam.
