The state of Chhattisgarh is north-south oriented and since the past few days, dry weather has been prevailing over the same. Clouding has eventually increased over the state and has become denser because of the cyclonic storm, ‘Phethai’ which has already made a landfall at Andhra Pradesh coast between Kakinada and Narsapur.

As per Skymet, places such as Jagdalpur, Bijapur, Bastar, Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Koriya and Sarguja in Chhattisgarh will experience light to moderate rains with heavy spells at few pockets only.

Tomorrow, i.e. on December 18, in the first half of the day, sky will be cloudy and light rains will continue and by the later part of the day, rains will start fading away and with due time sky will also become clear. In the first half, temperatures will drop by four to six degrees which will be below normal. However, December 19 onward drop in minimums and the day temperatures are expected to rise.

At present, because of the outspread of this system, the models suggest that there is a significant fall in day temperatures, thus leading to clouding.

Talking about the temperatures, maximums over Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh have been recorded at 21℃ while minimums at 12.8℃. The maximums have come down by 3°C and tomorrow the sky will be partly cloudy with haze in offing. Whereas in Jagdalpur, there seems to be a significant fall of 8℃ in the day temperature and the maximums have been recorded around 20℃ with minimums around 13℃. This region of Chhattisgarh might witness cloudy sky with light rains in offing.
