Cyclone Phethai to bring more rains for Jharkhand

December 17, 2018 6:28 PM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last 24 hours, Jharkhand has witnessed cloudy to mainly overcast sky along with light rains at its few places. Intensity of these rains was comparatively more over the southern parts of Jharkhand.

Moreover, due thick clouding and rains, the day temperatures have shown a decrease by 5℃-6℃ over many places thereby making the day felt as chilling cold.

Meanwhile, the Cyclonic Storm Phetahi has entered the land close to Kakinada around 14:30 hours, today. Further, a trough is seen extending from this system up to North Bangladesh. Soon, this system is expected to re-curve from North Andhra Pradesh and move towards Odisha,Chhattisgarh and adjoining states.

As the above system comes in proximity to Jharkhand, the rain intensity is likely to increase more over most parts of the state. Thus, we expect light to moderate rains along with isolated heavy showers to occur over many parts the state.

Further, winds will blow with a speed of 30-40 kmph during morning hours.

However, this system will not stay for long and soon will make a move from the state. Thus, we expect the weather conditions to improve from December 19 onward. The days will remain cool and dry weather will set in.
