In wake of Cyclonic Storm ‘Phethai’, the state of Jharkhand has observed widespread moderate rain and thundershower activities along with isolated heavy showers in the last 24 hours. These activities have taken place altogether in association with gale wind speed.

Moreover, a significant change in temperature has also been observed as a result of ongoing weather activities. The maximums have dropped significantly by 5℃-7℃ over many places while minimums have shown a marginal decrease.

Talking about weather systems, the Cyclonic Storm Phethai, after weakening gradually has now re-curved itself in northeast directions and is at present lying over Coastal Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal.

Further, a trough has been extending from northeastern states to Andhra Pradesh across a well marked Low Pressure area. This system is likely to weaken more in the coming days. Thus, clouding over Jharkhand will prevail for another 12 hours and scattered light rains and thundershower activities will be felt particularly over eastern parts of the state.

Thereafter, as the system weakens, weather will start becoming clear and dry weather will set during late night hours.

By December 19, weather will go completely dry. Consequently, maximums will start rising while minimums will show a drop over some parts. Also, little haziness will prevail during early morning hours. Thereafter, northerly winds will start blowing and mostly sunny sky with dry weather will prevail.
