Cyclone Nada to give good rains over Kerala

December 1, 2016 2:27 PM | Skymet Weather Team

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Cyclonic Storm Nada is gradually moving closer to the Indian Coast. The system is expected to cross the Tamil Nadu coast by tonight. However, the system is likely to lose intensity after making landfall. Further, it will move in a north-northwest direction.

In wake of this, moderate to heavy rainfall will commence to lash the hills of Kerala, while the coastal areas will record mostly light with a few moderate falls. Cloudy to overcast skies is likely over many areas of the state.

As of now, dry weather is prevailing over several parts of the state. So much so that the city has been witnessing a dry spell and rainfall deficiency.

Now, with good rains in the offing for the state, day temperatures may drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the region. Easterly/northeasterly moderate winds will also prevail over the area.

Light to moderate rains are expected to commence over the coastal state after Nada will make landfall over the Tamil Nadu coast. While these rains may not be able to able to cover the deficit rain figures, good news is in store for residents as dry spell is likely to come to an end.
