Cyclone Emnati, the fourth storm to have hit the Madagascar region this month, has made landfall. The storm hit southeastern region of Madagascar where Cyclone Batsarai had already caused immense damage and over 100 deaths this month itself.
In fact, another storm Dumako had hit the region last week, killing at least 14 people.
As a precautionary measure, over 30 000 were evacuated from the region before the arrival of storm Emnati. However, the system was reclassified as a tropical storm with no reports of damage.
There have been cases wherein storms have made an appearance in the Northern Hemisphere during this time, but generally this is the season of storms over the Southern Hemisphere mainly Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.
After crossing the island, the system went southwestwards, weakening thereafter.
