Cyclone Biparjoy to make landfall today, precautions to be taken

Very severe cyclone Biparjoy at 0530 hours IST today June 15, was over the Northeast Arabian Sea near Latitude 22.5 degrees North and Longitude 67.0 east. 180 Km west-southwest of Jakhau port, 210 Km west of Dev Bhumi Dwarka, 210 west-southwest of Naliya, 290 Km west-northwest of Porbandar, and 270 Km west southwest of Karachi.

It will continue to move in the northeast direction towards Kutch and Pakistan coast and may cross the coast near Jakhau port (Gujarat) between 16:00 and 20:00 IST as a very severe cyclonic storm. Wind speed at the time of landfall may be 115-120 Kmph gusting to 135 Kmph.

There may be very strong winds over the Saurashtra and Kutch coast during the next 24 hours. We advise you to take appropriate precautions. Wave height will also be very high. All operations may be suspended until June 16 over the Gujarat coast. All marine operations must be shut down until June 16th.
