The 13th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) kick started on Wednesday in the capital city of Gandhinagar. The Three-day long annual event was inaugurated by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Over 4000 delegates have thronged the city for the world's largest annual gathering of people of Indian origin and at present, there would have been no better place than Gandhinagar across the country for hosting this convention.

The city is currently witnessing best weather period with pleasant days and nights and decent humidity, making it an appropriate destination for this grand diaspora. The maximum temperature have been settling in high 20s, while nights and mornings are slightly chilly as minimum temperature is hovering around 10⁰C.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, good weather conditions are expected to continue for the next two to three days as well.

The change in weather of Gujarat is a result of two consecutive cold spells in North India in the first week of January.  Snowfall in the hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and rain in the plains of North India have been the factors leading to a drop in minimum temperatures of Gujarat in last 24 hours.

Apart from attending the event, delegates can take advantage of good weather and explore the vibrant state of Gujarat. They can also throng to Rann Utsav, which is already underway and upcoming Vibarant Gujarat Summit.

PBD is celebrated every year on January 9 to mark the endeavour of overseas Indian community in India's development. It is the day  when Mahatma Gandhi had returned to India from South Africa in 1915.
