Due to continuous Pre-Monsoon rains for the last few days, the week between April 27 and May 3 has been the rainiest week this season. The country has recorded 28 mm against 11.2 mm which is 150 percent of normal rains. Barring Northeast India, rains have been large excess.
Northwest India has seen 249 percent of rains. All subdivisions in the region are large excess. Central parts have also observed rains in large excess categories across the board. The only deficit region that saw deficit rains was Konkan and Goa with rains being in the normal range for Odisha. Excess rains have also been seen for Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
South Peninsula has seen large excess rains at 338 per cent. Bay Islands have witnessed less rain, other than that large excess rainfall has been witnessed over all regions.
When it comes to the entire Pre-Monsoon season between March 1 and May 3, the country has seen 28 percent excess rains at 95.4 mm against 74.3 mm. Now also, more rain is coming up for the next three to four days.
