The month of June did not perform well and ended on an 11 percent deficient note. However, so far, the month of July seems to be performing extraordinarily well as compared to the last month. Southwest Monsoon has covered most parts of the country and the leftover areas will soon be covered as well.
The first four days have been good as the rain deficiency dropped from 11 percent on June 30 to a mere 2 percent on July 4. Fairly heavy spell of rain was recorded on both July 2 and 3 over many parts of the country.
Both the days, above normal rains have been observed. While on July 2, the average countrywide rainfall was recorded to be 12.7 mm against 8.6 mm, July 3 was even better with a good 14.3 mm of rain against the same average. To top it all, July fourth displayed a power packed performance with the rainfall being recorded at 14.8 mm.
The rains on July 4 were the heaviest of the season. On July 26, 2015 the country recorded 14.1 mm of rain which was the highest in July last year. Usually, July and August are the two rainiest months of the year. Out of the two, more rains occur in the month of July.
During July even the daily normal rainfall keeps on increasing each day and even go up to 10 mm. During the next one week, good rains will be observed throughout the country barring the South Peninsular India.
