Country gears up for least weather activity from October 16 to 19

October 14, 2015 3:54 PM |

Weather in IndiaWeather conditions indicate that country is all set to witness minimal weather activity in the coming days. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, all the weather systems across the country have moved away from the affected areas and thus resulting in the least rainy activity across the country.

Low-pressure area in east-central and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea has moved far away from the coast and is now heading towards Yemen. While cyclonic circulation in Comorin region has also drifted away from the coast and weakening gradually.

Due to this, Peninsular India that has received above normal rainfall during last 10 days, will now see significant decrease in the rainfall. The region has already recorded 60% excess rainfall, so far.

On the eastern side, the cyclonic circulation in North Bay of Bengal has become less marked. The trough extending from the system has also become insignificant. Thus, rain activity over West Bengal and Northeastern states will take a backseat during next few days.

Up in North India, Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir will also be clearing away during next 24 hours. Moreover, no fresh system is likely to affect the region any time soon.

Meanwhile, anti-cyclonic circulation continues to prevail over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat areas. This system has kept the weather dry over entire Northwest and Central India with clear sky. As on October 13, Northwest India was 97% rain deficient. Similar weather conditions will prevail over both the regions between October 16 and October 19.

During the month of October, Southwest Monsoon starts withdrawing from the parts of the country. Weather activity goes minimal over North and Central India, while East, Northeast and Peninsular India continue to witness some weather activity due its proximity to the coast.

Major weather systems affecting the weather during October are either Western Disturbances in the hilly region or cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal.
