Cool nights ahead for Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, rain to commence from Feb 20

The eastern parts of the country have been experiencing dry weather conditions since the last week. At present, there is no significant system (rain-bearing) in the close vicinity of the eastern states, hence the entire region is experiencing pleasant and comfortable days followed by very cool nights. Due to below normal minimums, parts of North Odisha have been experiencing cold wave conditions.

According to Skymet Weather, the weather models are indicating the presence of an Anti-Cyclonic Circulation over the West Central Bay of Bengal in the lower levels. Thus, the wind pattern is going to change and the southerly-south-westerly winds may cut off the flow of cool northerlies. Due to the change in the wind direction, Odisha will experience warm days, however, the nights would remain pleasant.

Meanwhile, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal may experience dry weather conditions with pleasant days and very cool nights. Shallow fog or mist may persist during early morning hours in parts of Bihar and Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

These weather conditions might continue for another three to four days. Thereafter, a spell of rain is anticipated in Jharkhand, South Bihar, Odisha, and parts of West Bengal between February 20 and 24.
