Dry and cool northerly/north-north easterly winds have been continuing over most parts of Odisha and West Bengal since the last 24 hours. However, hills of West Bengal have remain untouched by these winds.

Meanwhile, due to a trough, light easterlies are also prevailing over hilly areas of West Bengal. On Saturday, light to moderate fog was observed over places like Malda and Murshidabad. Kolkata observed the lowest visibility I.e up to 1 km.

Talking about temperatures, minimums have dropped over many places of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha by 1℃-2℃ while single digit temperatures were recorded over Sundergarh, Bhawanipatna, Phulbani, Purulia, Bankura and Sri Niketan.

During the next 24 hours, no significant change in temperature is expected and dry as well as cool northerly/northeasterly winds will continue over the region.

However, a slight drop in night temperature will occur plains of West Bengal and northern parts of Odisha.

Moreover, after a long gap of two to three years, Odisha and West Bengal will enjoy cool and pleasant weather conditions during Christmas. Last two years have been witnessing above normal temperatures varying between 14℃-17℃. However, due to dry and cool northerly/north-northeasterly winds, this year Christmas will be spent as cool and comfortable.

Further, mist and haze will prevail with sunny sky over places like Murshidabad, Nadia, Malda, Navrangpura and Bhawanipatna.

Moreover, the beautiful hill station of Darjeeling and its adjoining areas will receive light rain/snow over some pockets during the next 24 hours and very cold conditions will prevail. Further, moderate to dense fog is also expected over some parts.
