The Western Disturbance has moved away from the hills of North India, and its induced Cyclonic Circulation has become insignificant due to which dry cool northwesterlies are prevailing over the region. Another Western Disturbance is likely to affect the plains by March 7.
Northwesterlies are expected to prevail over the plains for another 48 hours. Presently, both maximum and minimum temperatures over the plains are below normal by a couple of degrees. According to weather experts, these temperatures would continue to remain stable for at least 2 days.
The morning would be cool and misty. Shallow fog over some places with moderate levels in few pockets cannot be ruled out. Areas near Yamuna and Ganga river would be more prone to moderate fog.
The northwesterly winds would be light to moderate in nature and the dryness in the atmosphere is likely to rise towards afternoon, however it would be comfortable. Night would once again become cool over most of the places. After 24 hours, because of the change in wind direction to southwesterlies, some areas of North Rajasthan, South Punjab and adjoining Haryana region would observe rise in day temperature. Places like Sri Ganganagar, Suratgarh, Bikaner, Churu, Bhatinda, Sirsa and Hisar would witness rise in mercury on March 7.
