After February 13, the weather over Marathwada has remained dry. Due to this, day and night temperatures are settling above the normal levels over most parts of the region by 2 to 3 degrees. For instance, Parbhani recorded maximum of 37.5°C, which is three degrees above normal. Similarly, Nanded registered a maximum of 37°C and Aurangabad 35.4°C, which is two degrees above normal each.

Talking about the minimum temperatures, Aurangabad recorded a minimum of 18.6°C and Nanded 19°C, which are four and two degrees above normal, respectively.

Further, with the absence of any major weather system over and around the region, days have become very warm. In fact, nights have also been slightly warmer.

According to Skymet Weather, we do not expect any significant relief from the ongoing warm weather conditions for at least one week. However, a confluence zone is expected to develop over Vidarbha and Marathwada around March 6. This will persist until March 8, leading to partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions.

Due to the flow of warm and humid winds from Arabian Sea, night temperatures are expected to increase further, while maximums will drop marginally. However, no rainfall is anticipated over Marathwada in the coming days.

So in a nutshell, we could say that the weather will continue to be dry and warm over the region.

At this juncture, let’s have a brief of the prevailing weather on the agriculture:

Farmers are recommended to complete the harvesting of Wheat and Bengal Gram. Also, continue the harvesting of matured fruits like Orange, Sweet lime, Grapes and Pomegranate.

They should adopt deep two-way ploughing of the harvested field and open the drains for sun drying. Finally, irrigate the vegetable and short duration fruit crops at regular intervals.
