After the clearance of two successive Western Disturbances from Jammu and Kashmir, the day temperatures in several parts of the state have risen and are recording above normal. The maximums in the state are currently recording in double digits. Kupwara, which is going to the polls tomorrow recorded 14.7°C as the maximum temperature on Sunday, which is 3 degrees above the normal average.
The comfortable weather would further added to the zeal that the people of the state showed during the first phase of polling, when highest 71.28 per cent polling was recorded. The weather during the first phase polling was extremely cold but the people of Jammu and Kashmir showed great courage to defy the chill and come out in large numbers to exercise their rights. Similar turnout, or perhaps larger number is expected to come out and vote during the second phase tomorrow due to the comparatively better weather conditions.
However, the early morning hours would still be very cold and voting is only expected to pick up as the day progresses.
Jharkhand Weather
Meanwhile, the cold wave in Jharkhand has also abated and pleasant weather conditions are prevailing in the state. Jamshedpur which is going to the polls tomorrow recorded 31°C as the maximum, while the minimum settled at 13 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, which is marginally below normal. Chaibasa and Khunti, two more constituencies going to the polls recorded 14°C and 12°C as the minimum temperatures, respectively. Twenty constituencies of Jharkhand are going to the polls tomorrow.
