While the thick blanket of fog engulfs most parts of North India, bone chilling cold stay put as people gear up to welcome the New Year. Most places across the region have been recording minimum temperatures of 5°C or below. Some places are recording temperatures close to freezing levels. Punjab seems to be the coldest at the moment as Amritsar and Kapurthala have minimum temperature of 1.6°C.
