Severe cold condition in North India has finally relented. The entire belt consisting of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh have got some relief from the bone chilling temperatures. It is due to the current spell of clouding and rain that the minimum temperatures have risen and the maximums have dropped. Meanwhile, the rain belt is shifting eastwards, from Central India and Delhi to East India. The coldest place in the plains of India is jointly held by Amritsar and Kapurthala in Punjab followed by Jalore in Rajasthan.
