Several parts of Uttar Pradesh are witnessing cold weather conditions, as maximum temperatures over the state have been settling four to six degrees below normal for last two days. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, similar weather conditions are expected to prevail over the region during the next 48 hours as well.
On Friday, Gorakhpur recorded 19.2°c. six degrees below normal, Bharaich 18.4°C, six degrees below normal, Sultanpur 20.4°C, five degrees below normal, Kanpur 19°C, five degrees below normal, Moradabad 19.5°C, four degrees below normal and Jhansi 21°C, four degrees below normal.
As per Skymet, the maximum temperature over several areas had dropped due to the rain on January 26, 27 and 28. Post which, cold north-westerlies from hilly areas started blowing over the region, which is not allowing day temperatures to increase despite clear and sunny weather.
We can expect some relief from the cold weather conditions from January 3 onwards, as a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching North India and is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir by Januray 2.
This weather system is expected to cause some weather over Uttar Pradesh on January 3 and 4 and also there will be change in the wind pattern, resulting in rise in maximum temperatures.
