Cold wave to take a short break in Rajasthan, to return thereafter

The state of Rajasthan has been witnessing very cold nights. Meanwhile, days have remained warm and sunny over most parts of Rajasthan during the last few days. Moreover, moderate to dense fog has also been occasionally observed over northern districts of the state. However, this fog layer usually remains short-lived and lifts up soon as the sun comes up. This results in the increase in day temperatures.

However, night temperatures have been settling quite low and the region has been reeling under very cold weather conditions. Isolated pockets of North Rajasthan are still experiencing cold wave conditions.

North and East Rajasthan have also been recording below normal minimums while southern districts are recording near normal night temperatures.

For instance, today, the minimum temperature at Sri Ganganagar settled at a mere 3.6°C, Bhilwara saw its minimum at 5.8°C, and Pilani 5.4°C, Udaipur 7.5°C, Jaisalmer 9.9°C, Jaipur 10°C, Jodhpur 10.8°C, and Bikaner 10.9°C.

Now, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayan region. Thus, minimums may rise over the state leading to the abatement of cold wave conditions temporarily.

However, after the passage of Western Disturbance which is at around February 3 and 4, temperatures will once again witness a drop and isolated pockets may see cold wave conditions.

Thus, in a nutshell, cold nights are here to stay for a longer duration. Thus, many parts of the state of Rajasthan may see below normal minimums for at least the first half of February.
