The residents of Gujarat mainly experience three different seasons I.e winters, popularly known as ‘Shiyaado’, Monsoon as ‘Chomasoo’ and summers as ‘Unaado’ .
Winters in Gujarat occur between November and February. Generally, the state of Gujarat experiences mild winters, wherein minimums usually settle in double digits and days are sunny, warm and comfortable.
The state is also characterized by a long coastline, where winters over coast of Gujarat is experienced differently than over interior parts of the state. Moreover, temperature variance also remains high here.
Places situated on coast of Gujarat such as Rann of Kutch, Saurashtra and parts of South Gujarat experience least wintry conditions. It is only on account of of some conditions, that interior parts experience mild winters with temperatures settling in double digits only. On the other hand, winters are comparatively felt cold over north of Gujarat.
Second half of December brings cold spell for Gujarat. Moreover, state’s weather is governed by wintry conditions persisting over North India. Whenever, Cold Wave conditions or snowfall occur over the northern parts, due to cold winds blowing over these areas, Cold Wave occurs over Gujarat with temperatures falling down and reaching to single digits too. On the other hand, whenever there is a Western Disturbance present over North India, temperatures start rising over the state.
However, irrespective of temperatures settling either in single or double digits, afternoons continue to remain warm only. If not in single digit as on account of some extreme conditions, temperatures usually settle in mid 20s and above.
This season, the state of Gujarat has experienced Cold Wave condition in its pockets with minimums getting reported below normal by 5℃ to 6℃.

Have a look at temperatures during last 24 hours-
During next 24 hours, minimums will settle in double digits only and Cold Wave conditions would completely abate the state.
Further, on account of rains over hills as expected on January 4 as well as over Delhi on January 6, wind pattern will experience a change over Gujarat as winds coming from sea will start blowing over the state. As a result, minimums will start witnessing an increase.
However, after the passage of this period, winds will again change the direction and cold winds from the north will blow over the state. These cold winds will drop morning and night temperatures by 2℃ to 3℃ from January 8 onward.
Although Cold Wave conditions are not expected to return immediately over the state, but winter chill might make a comeback due to fall in temperatures. Further, in the absence of any significant weather system, weather across the state will remain dry.
