January 5, 2023 8:05 PM |

Gandhinagar, the state capital of Gujarat dropped to a single-digit temperature, this morning. On anticipated lines, North Gujarat and Kutch have plunged to below-normal single-digit temperatures, ushering cold wave conditions in some parts. Under 10 degrees temperatures have been recorded at Patan( 6.9deg), Deesa (6.9deg), Kandla Airport (8.0), Bhuj (9.0deg), Vallabh Vidyanagar ( 9.4deg), Gandhinagar (9.4deg).  Naliya, the coastal town was colder than the plains of North India by slipping to 2degree, the lowest of the season and observed severe cold wave conditions.

Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Surendranagar just sat on the fence of single digit and recorded 10deg, 10.7deg and 10.2deg, respectively. South Coastal Gujarat  remained cosy with minimum temperature in high teens and hovering close to normal.

Western disturbance is arriving shortly over the northern mountains. Shift of seasonal anticyclone will break the cold flow from northern plains to state of Gujarat. Mercury is unlikely to plunge any further. State may observe marginal rise in the temperatures after 24 hours. Pleasant conditions are expected across most parts of the state for the next few days.
