Cold wave returns to Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh

After giving a brief respite from chilly weather, cold wave conditions have returned to parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh once again. Both maximum and minimum temperatures in these states are presently settling below normal.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, dry and cold winds from north direction are blowing over the region, leading to a significant dip in mercury. Moreover, these cold winds will continue to flow for another 24 hours resulting in further drop in the minimum temperatures.

In spite of clear sky and bright sunshine, day temperatures are also settling on the lower side increasing the winter chill.

As per Skymet, no respite is likely during next two to three days. Thereafter, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayas by December 26, which will obstruct the continuous flow of northerly winds.

In wake of the fresh weather system, wind pattern will change from cold and dry northerlies to southwesterlies. These warm and humid winds from southwest direction are expected to increase both the night and day temperatures, leading to abatement of cold wave conditions by October 27.
