Dry weather conditions have been prevailing in Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan since the last week. The days have been cool and pleasant followed by very cold nights. Shallow to moderate fog could also be seen during early morning hours.

At present, there is no significant system in the vicinity of Northwest India. Hence, cool and dry north-westerlies have been blowing over the entire region resulting in cold weather conditions.

Meteorologists at Skymet have predicted cold wave-like conditions in one or two pockets of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Places like Narnaul, Churu, Bhilwara, Mount Abu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Bhatinda, Sirsa etc may experience cold wave-like conditions.

Meanwhile, Delhi may experience pleasant day with partly cloudy sky conditions. Cool breeze is likely to continue during the day as well, while the nights will be cold. In fact, the mercury may come down to 6 or 7 degrees during the next 48 hours. On the other hand, day temperatures would remain in the range of 21 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Thereafter, due to approaching Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas, clouds may appear leading to an increase in the day and night temperatures of Northwest India. This trend is likely to continue until February 14.
