The last few days have been the coldest in Delhi since the beginning of the winter season. Recently, the weather became even colder with temperatures being recorded several degrees below normal.
The minimum temperature of Safdarjung dropped by a degree today morning and was recorded as 4°C which is below normal by about four degrees. At the same time, Lodhi road recorded 4.2°C which is below normal by 4 degrees, Ayanagar 5°C (below normal by 3.5 degrees), Palam Observatory recorded 6.5°C which again is below normal by two degrees. Apart from this, cold wave conditions were recorded in many parts of Delhi NCR. Moreover, moderate fog made an appearance with visibility dropped to 300 metres.
In fact, talking about Delhi Pollution, the air quality index in the city remained very poor yesterday with a value of 347.
Presently, no significant weather system is present over the northwest plains. Although, north-westerly winds are prevailing over the region. These light northwest winds will continue to prevail for now and so it can be assumed that no significant change is expected in Delhi’s weather in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Owing to the current situation, not much change is expected in the present condition of Delhi. Day temperatures will be around 22-23°C. We expect minimum temperatures to remain below normal by 3 to 4° C in the coming days as well. Shallow to moderate fog will prevail during morning hours and a sunny sky will persist during the day. The pollution level is also likely to maintain at the same levels.
