Cold wave grips Bihar; relief likely soon

Minimum temperatures in Bihar have dropped significantly in the last two days. In fact, during last 24 hours, the minimum temperatures in most parts of the state have been settling two to three degrees below their normal levels.

In fact, in last 24 hours, Gaya, Chapra, and Muzaffarnagar have recorded minimum settling at 5 degrees below the normal. During the similar time frame, Bhagalpur, Purnea, Patna and Supaul recorded the mercury settling at 4 degrees below the normal mark.

The reason for the drop in these temperatures can be attributed to the dry and cold north-northwesterly winds at present blowing in the region. Moreover, these winds are expected to prevail for another couple of days.

As per Skymet Weather, for the next 24 hours, minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable. Thereafter, a gradual rise in both the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected thereby leading to an abatement of the persisting cold wave condition in the state.

Moreover, ground frost is also expected to make an appearance over most of the foothills of the state for another 24 hours. But, 24 hours hence, with the rise in the maximums, the ground frost is also expected to bid adieu to the area.
