Cold wave conditions reappeared over Central India after unseasonal rains

February 11, 2022 4:44 PM |

Cool and comfortable weather conditions have been prevailing over most parts of Central India since the last few days. Minimums over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha were slightly above normal or near normal.

Temperatures of Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh witnessed a significant drop on February 10. Temperatures in most parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh dropped significantly during the last 24 hours. Cold wave conditions have reappeared over many parts of Madhya Pradesh and isolated pockets of Chhattisgarh.

Reason for this drop in minimum can be attributed to the dry and cold north westerly winds and clear skies. After the passage of any weather system, minimum temperatures tend to drop due to clear skies and overnight cooling of ground.

These cold wave conditions are expected to persist over central parts of the country for another 24 hours. Thereafter, temperatures will start increasing leading to abatement of cold wave conditions. In fact, both day and night temperatures over Central India are below normal. They will start warming up and minimum will also increase gradually.
