Almost the entire northern part of the country is engulfed under cold wave conditions. However, a few central and eastern region of India is also gripped by the cold wave.

Though, with a marginal rise in temperatures, cold wave in Delhi has been abated but still, many parts of the country particularly, Haryana, Punjab, north, and southeast Rajasthan including East and Central Uttar Pradesh are still under the influence of cold wave.

Many parts of Madhya Pradesh and few parts of Bihar are also gripped under cold wave conditions. In all these states, temperatures have dropped down to zero or even below the zero level mark.

Have a look at the various regions that have observed a close to zero degree celsius temperatures during the last 24 hours:

The reason for the ongoing icy and chilly weather conditions over the northern plains can be attributed to the dry and cool north-northwesterly winds traveling from this region towards Central India. Due to this, the plains of northern India has been gripped under icy and chilly breezes.

As per Skymet Weather, now, a Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation has also developed over Central Pakistan which is expected to move towards northwest plains.

This is hence likely to lend a hand in leading to rising minimums. In the wake of this, minimum temperatures in most parts of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi also including North Rajasthan are expected to scale up by 3-4 degrees.

This would further lead to abatement of cold wave conditions from the aforesaid regions within next 48 hours. However, isolated places over East Rajasthan is predicted to take another two days to witness a rise in the temperatures. Till then ground frost is likely to persist over all these areas.
