When it comes to the state of Karnataka, the coastal parts of the state do not get affected by cold weather and continue to see pleasant weather condition throughout the winter season. On the other hand, the interior regions do see some colder weather sometimes, however, not as severe.
This time, the northern parts of Karnataka have seen intense cold conditions when northern as well as central parts of the country did shiver with extremely low temperatures. Moreover, the prevailing situation is such cold wave conditions went up to Maharashtra and even Telangana.
Talking about North Karnataka, for the last two days some areas have been observing cold wave conditions with temperatures in single digit. The cities of Bagalkot, Bidar, Bijapur, Dhawalgiri, Dharwad, Haveri and Chitradurga have seen low minimums.
Today, Bagalkot recorded the minimum at 5.6 degrees, Bijapur at 7 degrees, Bidar at 7.5 degrees, Dhawalgiri at 9.8 degrees, Dharwad at 10.4 degrees, and Chitradurga at 11 degrees. These minimums are at least below 5 to 7 degrees below the normal levels.
Now, these conditions are likely to improve due to the presence of Western Disturbance which is why the wind pattern will change and cause increasing minimums.
