Cold nights, comfortable afternoons in North India this week

After a warm weekend, Monday was expected to be chilly and it has been so far in Delhi and other parts of North India. The minimum temperature in Delhi dropped by 5 degrees within a day while it dropped by 7-10 degrees in Haryana and Punjab.
The last week of January witnessed above normal temperature as both minimum and maximum were settling 3-4 degrees above than the normal for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and parts of Rajasthan.

However, an active Western Disturbance that gave good rain and snow over the hills of North India also resulted in a dip in temperatures. The flow of icy cold winds from these hilly areas over the plains of North India were instrumental in bringing a significant drop in minimum temperatures.

Temperatures have decreased by 3-5 degrees in parts of Punjab and Haryana and 10 degrees at isolated places of Haryana such as Hisar.

Now, these winds will continue to flow over plains of North India till 4-5th February and fair drop of 2-3 degrees in maximum and 1-2 degrees in minimum temperature is most likely during next two to three days.

The trend will continue for another couple of days due to which chill in the air with ample amount of sunshine will mark the first week of February in plains of North India.
