At present, the weather has cleared up over Delhi and NCR but the remnants of the induced Cyclonic Circulation and a Trough are still being seen. Low and medium clouds are still persisting over Delhi and NCR and parts of Northern Plains. We expect the weather to completely clear up by today afternoon.

However, winds have changed direction from easterly to northwesterly and temperatures have already dropped particularly the minimum temperatures. Moreover, Cold Day conditions prevailed over the region during the last 24 hours.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature in Delhi settled at 14.5 degrees Celsius however, the minimum temperature settled at a comfortable 12.2 degrees. This indicates that the variation between minimum and maximum temperatures came down to just 2 degrees. Today also, we do not expect much increase in the day temperatures.

We expect Cold Day conditions to persist in Delhi and NCR areas like Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

Shallow fog is persisting over a few regions of Delhi and NCR. In fact, visibility at the Palam Airport in Delhi dropped to 900 meters but fortunately, there wasn't any instance of flight delay. Rail traffic wasn't disrupted either.

Contrary to this, dense fog formation was being anticipated over the region due to an increase in moisture. However, due to moderate northwesterly winds, fog failed to accumulate in the region.

Pollution levels have come down marginally and many parts of Delhi and NCR have been witnessing air in the moderate to poor category.

Now, we expect the minimums to drop further by 5-6 degrees during the next two days.

Soon after, another active Western Disturbance will approach the hills on January 11. Winds will once again change direction. Gradually, the minimums will start rising. Another spell of rain and thundershower activities are likely over Delhi and NCR area and the northern plains between January 12 and 14. During this period, the minimum temperatures will once again rise.
