It is no news that most parts of North India are witnessing chilly winter weather. Most areas of Northern plains be it Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh or parts of Central India like Madhya Pradesh are reeling under extreme cold temperatures. Following their suite is Maharashtra which is observing the winter chill.
Most areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and few areas of coastal Maharashtra are observing cold day conditions where the minimum temperatures are 4-6°C below normal. Mumbai witnessed its lowest minimum temperatures in last 3 years with mercury dropping to 11.9°C.

Places like Nagpur, Buldana, Amravati and Akola are witnessing temperatures below 10°C. In fact, most areas of Maharashtra witnessed a chilly morning today as the temperatures below 10°C was observed. Pune witnessed temperatures of 7.4°C, whereas Nasik saw temperature plummeting to 6°C.
This drop in temperatures is due to cold and dry northeasterly winds, but soon this is likely to change. Change in winds pattern is expected and minimums are likely to rise.
Temperatures will increase gradually for the next 24 to 48 hours, but cold day conditions will prevail over the entire region. It is only after 48 hours that the region will be relieved from cold day conditions.
