The states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi as well as Rajasthan have been witnessing below normal maximum as well as minimums. So much so that, cold day conditions have gripped many areas of North India.

In fact, yesterday, Amritsar saw the maximum temperature settling at 11 degrees Celsius, which happens to be 7 degrees below normal resulting in cold day conditions. Cities of Patiala, Chandigarh, Hisar, Ambala, Bathinda, Pathankot, Patiala, Sirsa, Sri Ganganagar, Bundi, Hanumangarh have been witnessing cold day conditions.

Due to icy cold winds blowing from the Western Himalayas over the Northern Plains, the day temperatures are getting arrested and not increasing resulting in cold day conditions in many parts of Northwest Plains. For Delhi also, maximums have been settling well below the normal levels.

These weather conditions are expected to continue for some more time as no significant weather system is not likely to have an effect over the plains, causing an increase in temperatures.
