Colaba, Mumbai receives three digit rains, more showers to followAfter displaying a not so satisfactory performance, Mumbai rains have bounced back. Monsoon showers have picked up pace in the maximum city and heavy to heavy rains have been recorded over Mumbai for quite some time now.

The month of September began on a less rainy note, however, as the days passed by, Monsoon rains picked up pace and the city of dreams started receiving good showers. During the last few days, heavy rains have been lashing the maximum city.

These Monsoon showers have been widespread in nature. In fact, both the Santa Cruz and the Colaba observatory has been witnessing a few good spells of rain.

During the last 24 hours, the Santa Cruz observatory has recorded a good 50 mm of rain taking the cumulative rain figure to 208.1 mm against its monthly mean of 312 mm.

On the other hand, the Colaba observatory witnessed a whopping 104.2 mm of rainfall. Colaba has received a little more rain than Santa Cruz in September. In fact, so far the observatory has witnessed 232.3 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently over Madhya Maharashtra. The coastal areas have been witnessing increased moisture incursion due to this system.

During the next 24 hours, Mumbai is expected to receive fairly widespread moderate to heavy rains. In fact, the possibility of a few very heavy spells also cannot be ruled out.
