In the absence of any significant weather system, since the last many days, mainly dry weather conditions are going on over most parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry including the capital city, Chennai.
In fact, the sky conditions over most places are partly cloudy. The nights are cool while day is comfortable and slightly warm. Yesterday, Chennai recorded its maximum and minimum temperature at 29.3˚C and 20.8˚C, respectively.
At present, a cyclonic circulation lies over central parts of South Bay of Bengal in the lower levels. This system is further moving in west/northwest direction slowly.
Due to approaching of this system, spell of rain and thundershower is expected over scattered places of Coastal Tamil Nadu. Therefore, during the next 24 to 48 hours, places like Cuddalore, Karaikal, Nagapattinam, Thondi and Rameswaram may witness light rainfall activity.
However, as this weather system is feeble in nature, rest all parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will remain mainly dry with clear sky.
In Chennai, the sky conditions will be partly cloudy. Mist may prevail during the early morning hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30˚C and 20˚C, respectively.
Moreover, at present, Tamil Nadu is largely rain deficient by almost 99% and further also in the absence of any significant rainy spell we expect this deficiency to persist.
