Southwest Monsoon remained active along the West Coast during the past few days. So much so that the coastal regions recorded moderate to heavy rains with isolated very heavy spells.

These showers can be attributed to the active off shore trough extending along the West Coast along with a low pressure area that was in the vicinity of the region. But these weather systems have weakened now.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Kozhikode witnessed a good 40 mm of rainfall, followed by Mangaluru 35 mm, Madikeri 33 mm, Dahanu 32 mm, Kannur 29 mm, Harnai 27 mm, Alapuzha 24 mm, Bhira 22 mm, Alibag 20 mm, Ratnagiri 16 mm, Mumbai 14 mm, Honnavar 11 mm, Mahabaleshwar 10 mm, Karwar 9 mm, Kochi 8 mm and Thane 6 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, Konkan and Goa region will record moderate spells during the next 24 hours. Thereafter rains will reduce, but light to moderate rains will continue for a few days.
Coastal parts of Kerala are likely to receive light to moderate rains, while Coastal Karnataka will witness light showers during the next 24 hours. The weather is anticipated to remain pleasant all along the West Coast.
As far as the sub division rainfall statistics is concerned, Konkan and Goa is rain deficit by 5%, while Coastal Karnataka by 23% and Kerala by 26%.
